Murray Grove Post Office: The Next Step
The Council has moved a step closer to reopening Murray Grove Post Office.
Following approval from Cabinet on 26 October, the Council will now go out to tender to try to find a partner to run the Post Office in Hoxton.

A public consultation over the summer with residents and businesses showed that there was strong support to reopen the Post Office, which closed in June 2008 as part of the Post Office Network Change Programme.
Jules Pipe, Mayor of Hackney, said: “Residents and businesses, supported by their local councillors, have told us that they would like to see Murray Grove Post Office reopened, and that its closure has affected the way they go about daily tasks such as using postal services, paying rent and bills, and receiving benefits and pensions.
“We’re now looking for a partner to run the Post Office. If this is successful, residents and businesses will need to support the Post Office by using it regularly to ensure the Council can keep it open for them in the long-term.”
If a partner is found to run the Post Office, it will be initially funded for up to five years, with a review after two years, to assess levels of use and financial viability. It is hoped the Post Office could reopen in early summer 2010.
