If you run a reading group, you can borrow book sets from our extensive list. From Asimov to Alex Wheatle, our list features classics, prize winners, teenage reads, cult fiction, and general fiction titles. Contact Anna Robinson on 07772 227394 for further details.

Adult reading group

2nd Tuesday in the month, 6-7.30pm, all welcome.

'Travels with my aunt' by Grahame Greene will be discussed at the next meeting on 9 December. The following book will be 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' by Marina Lewycka. Join us for lively discussions and debates. All viewpoints taken on board! Meet some new friendly faces!

Open Day Event

Friday 21 November, 11am-7.30pm. Come and celebrate the library’s past and share the excitement of what the future holds. Exhibition, children's entertainment 4-5pm, talk on the project 6.30 – 7.30pm. Refreshments.

Muslim Contributions Exhibition

17 – 23 November. This exhibition helps Muslims and non-Muslims to come together in a climate of understanding and appreciation. The purpose of this exhibition is to highlight the part played by Islamic civilization in influencing modern ideas about science, medicine, mathematics, architecture, music and the arts.

The Coffee, Cake and Book Group

Every six weeks (during term time only) on Wednesdays, 10.30-11.30am. Do you enjoy reading and meeting new people? Hackney Black Writers Forum

Every first Tuesday in the month, 6-8pm. A monthly forum for novelists, short-story writers, playwrights, poets, song-writers and other creative writers to meet and learn from each other, provide mutual support, develop their creative and performance styles and try out material in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Reading Group

BBC Raw Event - Festival Card-Making (Families)

Friday 19 December, 4 - 5pm. Have fun making cards to celebrate various festivals.

Under 5s time

Every Wednesday, 2-3pm. We invite parents/carers to come and enjoy our storytelling and baby rhyme sessions, craft activities, musical instruments and toys. We provide refreshments and give away stickers when you attend any of the sessions. Everytime you collect 5 stickers you will get one of the 10 beautiful Book Crawl certificates.

Jamie's Reading Group

Every last Tuesday, 7-9pm (adults). The next book is 'A Grain of Wheat' by Ngugi wa Thinog'o - a classic novel examining the fallout from independence in 1960s Kenya.

Richard's Reading Group

Second Tuesday of the month, 7-9pm (adults). Next meeting 9 September. The next book is 'Humboldt's Gift' by Saul Bellow  - Pulitzer Prize winner detailing the mid-life crisis of a successful Chicagoan author.

Warhammer Club

Every first Tuesday, 6-7.30pm. For older children and teens. Play the games workshop fantasy/military strategy boardgames.

Exchange Group
