Controlled Parking Zones
We have introduced Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) to improve parking conditions for Hackney residents and businesses. They facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians, traffic, buses and cyclists as well as protecting residential streets from commuter parking.
A detailed map of Hackney's CPZs is available to download on the right of this page. Zoom in to view street names and boundaries - please note this is a high resolution file (3MB) and may take some time to download.
You can also view and download a map of all parking bays in a particular CPZ by clicking on the relevant Zone name in the "Downloads" section at the right. For hours of operation, ses the page on the left.
What is a CPZ?
In CPZs, parking bays are marked on all public roads (excluding Red Routes, which are the responsibility of Transport for London) to show where it is safe to park. Residents, local businesses and their visitors are given priority and must display permits or vouchers to show their entitlement to park.
Outside the hours of control, parking remains unrestricted. Hackney Borough has several existing CPZs, and the Council is proposing to introduce controlled parking hours in more areas with the Borough.
We create CPZs through public consultation and CPZs are also subject to parking reviews after one year and every third year. See the pages on the left for information about CPZ consultations and reviews.
Parking on Bank Holidays
Enforcement of parking regulations on most Bank Holiday’s is normally the same as the enforcement level for Sundays. This means that single yellow lines and designated parking bays are not enforced unless clearly signed local restrictions are in place.
Double yellow lines, footway parking, disabled bays and single yellow lines with 24hr enforcement are enforceable 24 hours per day, seven days a week and so are enforceable on Bank holidays and Sundays
The single exception to these rules is the two day Christmas Bank Holiday where enforcement levels are separately agreed each year mainly due to the unique nature of this particular bank holiday with largely only absolutely essential services running.
