Residents Parking Permits

Permits are priced according to the size of your vehicle’s engine and the fuel it uses. These factors relate to the volume of gases emitted by your vehicle that have an impact on the local and global environment.

Each resident who is aged 17 or over and lives within the zone is eligible to apply for a Resident Permit.  Residents who display a valid permit can then park in residential and shared–use bays.

You can apply for a Resident Permit by post or in person but postal application are preferred, to minimise queuing. On application, proof of vehicle ownership or keeper details as well as proof of insurance will be required, together with proof of residence in the Controlled Parking Zone. If you do not enclose copies of all the relevant documents your application will be returned to you, delaying the issue of your permit. All permits will be posted to you. If you replace your vehicle you will need to update your permit details for a nominal fee.  If you need a short term replacement vehicle contact us to make new arrangements.

From 1 July 2007, we started offering free permits for electric vehicles as well as a 50% discount for LPG, Hybrid and LNG vehicles on the cost of their resident permit. In order to receive these concessions the vehicle log book will have to be submitted. If the vehicle is a hire, vehicle, the Hire/Lease agreement must state the fuel type of the vehicle.

Permits are issued for 3, 6, or 12 months and should be renewed before the date of expiry. However it is your responsibility to renew your permit.
