Energy Efficiency and Pollution

Energy efficiency is a key part of the battle to become greener, and Hackney Council is leading the way.

All council premises have a hydroelectricity supply – this includes street lights. Our new bin lorries are the greenest in the country, running on biodiesel.

We also encourage green design for new buildings, and the councils new office buildings include energy-saving measures such as lighting, heating and cooling systems.
