Road Safety
The Road Safety ETP team are responsible for promoting the awareness of a wide range of road safety issues from children’s educational programmes in schools, overseeing the cyclist training contract, through to the distributing of publicity materials for government and local campaigns.
The team is also responsible for the borough’s School Crossing Patrol service (Lollipop men and ladies).
In the UK, over 3,000 people die each year on the roads, tens of thousands are seriously injured and hundreds of thousands are otherwise hurt. Some years back, the government set targets for the reduction of casualties and there has been a good deal of progress made in this area. Here in Hackney, we believe that instilling knowledge and good attitudes are vital to lowering the figures further and keeping them low.
