Get Ready for Tour de Hackney
Take to two wheels this summer and join Hackney’s first free borough-wide mass cycling event, set to take place in the run-up to London’s Olympic and Paralympic handover.
Tour de Hackney, on Sunday 17 August, will take in a 12 mile route around the borough, with a shorter circuit around Shoreditch Park available for beginners.
You can join the route at any point, and enjoy the marshalled ride around Hackney, taking in local landmarks and parks.
The ride will start and finish at Shoreditch Park where a whole host of bike related entertainment will be on show, including bike ballet, stunt cycling and bike safety advice. Prizes and other goodies will also be up for grabs.
Mayor of Hackney Jules Pipe, a keen cyclist, said: “Hackney has already been voted the best bike borough in London and this will really put us on the cycling map. It’s fun, good for the environment and a great way to keep fit.”
The Tour de Hackney is part of the Shoreditch Festival, and jointly funded by the Shoreditch Trust and Hackney Council.
