Greener Waste
Recycling is part of Hackney Councils green agenda. Hackney now offers one of the most comprehensive recycling services in London.
We collect 12 materials from the Green Box, kitchen waste from all street level properties, garden waste from 16 000 properties, a range of materials from estates, and are now offering Tetrapak recycling at various recycling banks around the borough.
Up to 60% of household rubbish can be recycled. In November 2007, Hackney produced a recycling rate of 24%, which means that 24% of the rubbish produced in November 2007 was recycled.
