I Love Dance 2007
Saturday 1 September, 3pm
Gillett Square, Dalston, N16
I Love Dance is a a high-energy event showcasing some of the borough’s best choreographers, performers and artists. The free event is organised by East London Dance, funded by Hackney Council’s Cultural Development Team and supported on-site by Gillett Squared. They want to encourage a wider interest in dance, both as a form of entertainment and as a physical activity.
Among the artists participating in I Love Dance is abstract street dance company Avant Garde, fresh from recent performances at the Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells and the Trafalgar Square Festival; C-12 Dance Theatre – a revolutionary dance company that creates original material through a fusion of dance techniques and theatre; African-Caribbean dance company Conscious Rhythms; and Mimbre, a female acrobatic trio that draw inspiration from circus, physical theatre, capoeira and breakdance.
Not to be outdone by the younger performers, a group of older dancers will be entertaining with a conga guiding the crowds from Kingsland Road to Gillett Square.
Hosting the event will be Kymberlee Jay, Nike Athlete, street dance specialist, and presenter.
