2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games
The London 2012 Forum was held in the borough last Thursday, bringing together people from across the capital with interests in the Games.
Mayor Pipe opened the Forum saying he was proud to be a host borough for 2012 and welcomed Sebastian Coe, chair of the committee which will organise the London Games. [Find out more]
Hackney logo used by Nike
Hackney Council is calling on Nike to compensate the young people of Hackney for their misappropriation of the Council's logo for use on a World Cup range of sportswear. Mayor Jules Pipe said: 'We have been using this logo for more than 40 years - since before England last won the World Cup! I was shocked that such a huge global company would use it without even approaching us for permission. [Find out more]
Jules Pipe re-elected Mayor of Hackney
Hackney voters have re-elected Labour’s Jules Pipe as their Mayor for the next four years. Speaking from the count, which took place on Friday 4th May, Mayor Pipe said ‘I am delighted that Hackney voters have put their trust in me to run the Council for another four years. [Find out more]
