Drugs Advisory service

We provide a service for people affected by illegal drugs and/or prescribed drugs, with a friendly confidential service that offers help and support to those who feel they can't be drug free and also those who choose abstinence as an aim.

Staff in our Substance Misuse team are drawn from a variety of professional backgrounds and who are all trained to help people with drug related problems. The Drugs Action Team website (seeuseful websites on the right) includes advice and information on services and locations and lists of other organisations that are available. For services for young people with drug and alcohol misuse problems, please contact the Youth Support Teams.

The following organisations also help those who have a problem related to illegal drugs or volatile substances:

  • Talk to FRANK
    The National Drugs Helpline is a 24-hour, seven-days a week, free and confidential telephone service that offers advice and information for those who are concerned, or have questions, about drugs. The service is available to anyone
  • Tackling Drugs
    A cross-government national drug strategy website for drug prevention and treatment professionals and others interested in the drug strategy.
  • Department of Health - Substance Misuse
    Information about preventing, treating and identifying cases of substance misuse, for health professionals, parents and young people.
  • UK National Drugs Helpline:
    The National Drugs Helpline is a 24-hour, seven-days a week, free and confidential telephone service that offers advice and information for those who are concerned, or have questions, about drugs. The service is available to anyone.
  • Re-Solv Helpline (volatile substance misuse):
    Telephone enquiry service for anyone concerned about solvents or volatile substance abuse problems.
