I would like to make a complaint about a pet shop?
If you have any complaint to make about the state of pet shops or about the pets being sold in a pet shop please contact our Hackney Service Centre on, 020 8356 3000. We will investigate your complaint and where appropriate, we will arrange take action to make sure that the shop is complying with the terms of its licence.
I would like to open a Pet Shop, what do I have to do?
In order to open a Pet Shop, you need to obtain a licence. Please call our Hackney Service Centre on, 020 8356 3000; they will advise you on licensing fees and conditions based upon the animals you want to keep. Before any licence can be issued the premises will be inspected by the Council’s vet, who will contact you to arrange this. This vet will advise the Council on whether to issue a licence and what licence conditions should be attached to the licence.
