QR codes

What is a QR code?

QR ("quick response") codes work in a similar way to bar codes - when scanned with a smartphone they will take you to a relevant website. A smartphone is an advanced mobile phone, which allows you to access the internet or emails and install "apps" (programs for your phone).

How does Hackney Council use QR codes?

Occasionally you may see a QR code on a Hackney Council poster or publication. When scanned it will take you to online information from the Council which is relevant to what you have been reading about.

How do I read a QR code?

You can read a QR code by downloading a QR code reader to your smartphone. Below you'll find a list of suggested QR code readers for your operating system or phone.
