Brown bin

Brown bin garden waste recycling service

Hackney Council provides brown wheelie bins for the collection of garden waste. If you do not have enough space to store a brown bin, but you would still like to recycle garden waste, we can supply single-use compostable brown sacks - just contact us to request them using the details to the right.

Below you'll find information about collection times, what you can and can't put in your brown bin, and advice on what to do if you have large quantities of garden waste to dispose of. If you need to order a brown bin, you can do so using our online recycling container request form.

Is my property covered by the scheme?

The brown bin scheme is currently available to 15,000 properties in Hackney. To find out if you are covered, or to request that your property be added to it, you can contact us using the details to the right.

If you are not covered by the scheme, the bulky waste service can be used to collect large amounts of garden waste.
