Recycling Service Consultation
The Recycling service was held to find out how we can help Hackney residents and businesses recycle more, as well as help us develop and improve our services for the future. It ended on 18 December.
Why we consulted
Reusing, recycling and composting your waste are very practical ways that you can help the environment and contribute to a more sustainable way of living. Hackney Council and residents have a great environmental track record - together, we have made Hackney London's greenest borough.
However, we have been set challenging recycling targets for the coming years, and we need everyone on board to help increase the levels of recycling and composting.
Consultation aims
The main aims of the consultation were as follows:
- To gather views on the current recycling service provided by the Council.
- To measure satisfaction levels with current services and identify opportunities for the future.
- To encourage residents to take advantage of the recycling schemes on offer.
- To educate residents about their responsibilities as producers of waste and Hackney's responsibilities as the collection authority.
- To assess the readiness of residents to manage their waste and therefore ensure the best out of the Hackney recycling service.
Next steps
We are now compiling all of your feedback, which will be used to inform future policy and service. We will also publish the results in Hackney Council’s Consultation Finder.
