The Regeneration and Planning Service offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of the great things happening in Hackney and is at the forefront of making the Council’s vision of ‘making Hackney a better place’ a reality.
The service brings together five complementary areas with a collective vision ‘to create quality places and opportunities’ for Hackney residents, businesses and visitors.
Development Management – delivers the Council’s statutory responsibilities including assessing planning applications and enforcement, and maintains a register of property information necessary for Home Information Packs (HIPs)and property searches.
Policy and Strategy – delivers statutory planning policies such as the Local Development Framework (LDF), and leads on a range of strategic documents including regeneration, housing and climate control as well as providing expertise in urban design, conservation area management and sustainability.
Strategic Projects – delivers the expertise necessary to deliver major projects and capital programmes including estate renewal and town centre and other master plans, as well as the realisation of the Olympic legacy.
Partnerships and Investment – delivers economic development through promotion of business opportunities, tackles worklessness through training and other employment programmes, maximises access for affordable housing and provides social and town centre regeneration opportunities.
Projects and Engagement – provides support to the service in terms of business planning, training, engagement/consultation, e-government and customer service enhancements.
