Education and schools work
Visits are made throughout the year to schools where we deliver a wide range of programmes addressing a number of current issues like seat belt wearing, crossing roads and pre-driver education.
Children respond to lively, stimulating lessons and it is our aim to make these sessions memorable for the children as well as providing them with advice that could help prevent them being injured on our roads.
Road Safety education though, is not just about working in schools and we are keen to form links with the wider community in Hackney. Hackney is a diverse community and we welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can work with different groups to make Hackney a safer place to live, work and travel in.
Teachers
As well as visits to schools, there are a number of resources we can provide teachers with including specific lesson plans relevant to the school curriculum. For more information, please contact us on 020 8356 8364.
For additional lesson plans and worksheets on a variety of curriculum subjects at both primary and secondary level visit www.dft.gov.uk
Theatre in Education
We provide educational programmes to schools which include a drama performance plus educational resources where relevant.
Our dramas cover a wide range of road safety topics. Each performance is tailored for a specific age group and delivered by professional writers and actors. Theatre can make education fun and memorable.
It also allows young people to consider the possible consequences of their actions by using situations and characters that they can relate to.
Get clued up
The latest programme aimed at Year 10 is Get Clued Up. This is all about helping young drivers and passengers make safe choices when driving, now and in the future.
