One dialogue with the public
Despite there being many agencies involved in tackling crime in Hackney, we aim to have 'one dialogue' about it with Hackney residents.
This means making it simple for people to voice their concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour, and communicating clearly what is being done about these issues. Establishing this good communication process is an important goal of the Justice Seen, Justice Done initiative.
To help achieve this goal, we have appointed council officials to be key contacts for each Police Safer Neighbourhood Team. They attend every Neighbourhood Policing residents meeting, and coordinate joint working between the Police and Hackney Council.
This helps to ensure that the council and Police are fully aware of residents' concerns about crime and are working together effectively to tackle any problems.
Safer Communities newsletterTo keep residents informed about crime in their area and what is being done to tackle it, the council and Police produce and distribute joint "Safer Hackney" newsletters every quarter. You can read all the Safer Hackney newsletters online. Get involvedThere are many ways to get involved with setting priorities for your local policing team or tackling crime in your area.
