Reporting crime or anti-social behaviour means that the Police can build up a better picture of what’s going on in your area and allocate resources more effectively. It can also prevent someone else from being a victim of crime.
How to report a crime
Reporting a non-emergency crime
In a non-emergency, please call the police using the non-emergency number, 0300 123 1212.
Reporting a crime in an emergency
In an emergency, telephone 999. You should use this number if you think there is an immediate threat to life or property.
Reporting a crime anonymously
If you have any information on a crime and wish to report it anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
How to report anti-social behaviour
What is anti-social behaviour?
Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour which causes distress or alarm to residents in an area, and harms their quality of life. It includes:
- noise
- drug dealing
- theft
- vandalism
- prostitution
- harassment
- hate crime.
Who can you call?
If you are affected by anti-social behaviour you can call Hackney Council on 020 8356 3030 to report it.
Hackney Homes residents can also contact their Neighbourhood Housing Office on 020 8356 3691.
