How does scrutiny work in Hackney?
Hackney has five Scrutiny Commissions that are responsible for different topic areas:
- Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission
- Community Safety and Social Inclusion Scrutiny Commission
- Governance and Resources Scrutiny Commission
- Health in Hackney Scrutiny Commission
- Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission
The Commission's work is managed by an Overview and Scrutiny Board, which is the lead body of public scrutiny in the borough.

Councillors undertake an annual survey of local people to help select topics for each Commission's annual work programme.
