  • The London Skills and Employment Observatory is the central source of information, research and data on all skills and employment issues for all of the London boroughs. Information for Hackney can be found by selecting the data tab, selecting data for boroughs and sub-regions and finally selecting the Hackney spreadsheet. All information related to skills and employment is located in one spreadsheet.
  • Nomis is a service provided by the Office for National Statistics and provides the most detailed and up-to-date UK labour market statistics from official sources. 
  • Department for Work and Pensions provides a wide range of data including statistical information relating to benefits.

Metropolitan Police 

The Metropolitan Police crime mapping tool - This tool (select "text view" in top right hand corner) provides: 

  • a detailed breakdown and number of the crimes committed within London as a whole
  • a detailed breakdown and number of crimes committed within all London boroughs (ranked)
  • borough crime rates and counts
  • crime rates and counts of individual wards within each borough

The Metropolitan Police latest crime figures - For a "quick view" of Hackney's total notifiable offences (broken down by offence) for the current and previous years, the Metropolitan Police latest crime figures page provides an overview of each borough's performance.

Office for National Statistics

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) provides a wide range of comparative data sets for a range of geographies; this should be a first choice when seeking comparative statistics for Hackney, or contextual national data.          

Neighbourhood Statistics

The Neighbourhood Statistics website (ONS) provides a wide range of information at borough and ward level.  

Population Estimates

The Custom age analysis tool on the ONS website allows users to select defined geographies and defined age bands to request population estimates for specific age groups. The results are broken down by gender and reveal the percentage of the population those age bands represent. The results also bring up results for London and England so national comparisons can be made.

Deprivation 

Education 

  • Department for Education provides range of school and education statistics. Data can be viewed nationally, regionally or by Parliamentary Constituency, Local Authority or Local Authority District. 

Health 

  • NHS Information Centre provides a wide range of statistics on a variety of health related issues.  
  • The London Health Observatory contains a variety of analytical tools and health profiling information
  • National Social Marketing Centre - One Stop Shop contains unpublished research on public sector health campaigns and social marketing. The research comprises information on consumer knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and behaviour, covering a range of topics that span a wide range of public health priorities.

General

  • Neighbourhood Statistics provides a range of comparative statistics - including borough level, ward level and Super Output Area geography for small area data. A wide range of Census and non-Census data is available.
  • Greater London Authority provides a wide range of news, plans and statistical information which is best used when undertaking comparisons between Hackney and other London boroughs.
