Shoreditch Park improvement programme

Shoreditch Park has recently undergone significant improvements guided by a 2007 masterplan. Some of the recent improvements include -

  • The creation of two new entrances and the improvement of three other entrances to encourage entry into the park.
  • The extension of the Rushton Street children’s play area as a dog free zone.
  • The creation of an informal tree trail along the boundary to encourage walking and jogging around rather than just through the park.
  • The commissioning and installation of a 85 tonnes granite boulder by Hackney based artist John Frankland.
  • The installation of an amphitheatre/outdoor cinema, with associated audio visual infrastructure.
  • The rationalisation of all park furniture, ensuring a clear modern design aesthetic
  • The planting of a wild flower area and 27,000 flower bulbs, including the introduction of native wildflower strips linking the new meadow to the rest of the park and adjoining streets and estates.
