Our philosophy

How Lee House works
Lee House aims to provide a structured, supportive environment for its members to progress into employment and educational opportunities. Lee House is run by members and staff working alongside each other.

The day begins with a morning meeting to co-ordinate the priorities of the working day's activities. After the meeting people go to their chosen area of work.

These areas include

  • Administration and finance, which includes reception work and computing. Our administration team offers courses in, Computer Literacy And Information Technology (CLAIT) to levels 1,2 and 3, as well as European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
  • Web site design.
  • Catering (including food preparation, cooking, stocktaking and ordering) and serving in the coffee bar. The catering unit is currently in the process of setting up a new City and Guilds cooking course.
  • Horticulture (includes plant selling, landscaping work and running NVQ courses).
  • Pottery
  • Literacy
  • Art
  • Music
  • Dance and exercise
  • Tai Chi.
  • Photography
  • Healthy living classes

If you want to pursue further education, Lee House can help to support you by providing you with appropriate links with local colleges.

Lee House can also help you get a job by supporting you towards finding and sustaining employment, helping with Curriculum Vitaes, providing opportunities to access part time paid and volunteer work, and helping with interviews.

We work in partnership with the Job Centre Plus and have links with local employers. Job Centre Plus can also help you with benefits enquiries.

By providing you with an supported working environment, Lee House can help build up your confidence to return to work.
