Special needs housing

 

We can offer help and advice to people with a disability who may need wheelchair accessible housing or housing which has been adapted to meet their needs.

We will carry out medical assessments for disabled housing register applicants and tenants who wish to transfer. Medical priority is awarded, and recommendations made for the type of property that is suitable. 'Vulnerability Advice' is given for homeless applicants.

Bidding for suitable properties

The information in 'Choice Homes' and on the East London Lettings Company website includes floor level, access information and adaptations, so applicants can bid appropriately, and we encourage applicants to bid for suitable properties. Adapted housing transfer scheme

We have an Adapted Housing Transfer Scheme to encourage tenants in wheelchair standard properties to move out if they no longer need an adapted home. This frees up accessible accommodation for those waiting. Please see the leaflet below for more information.
