New for 2012 - Active Women sessions
Young 16-25 year old women in Hackney are able to take part in more sport for free thanks to Hackney Council being chosen to take part in Sport England's 'Active Women' scheme. The scheme aims to encourage more young women, especially those who care for children, to take up a sport as they are less likely than young men to participate in sports activities.
Free swimming, netball, football, volleyball, dance and gym and fitness sessions at local leisure centres across the borough. A series of 12 week programmes, which will start in Spring 2011, will run for two years providing opportunities to try a range of sports.
