Current running groups and events in Hackney

Please find detailed information below about all the current running groups in Hackney. Please contact the group leaders directly if you are interested in joining one of the groups or popping along to a session. You will need to complete a disclaimer form (PDF, 172KB) and bring it along with you when joining a group.

Groups denoted with an asterix (*) are Royal Caribbean groups (all members of Royal Caribbean groups will receive freebies and free entry into the Royal Caribbean prize draw with the opportunity to win a free cruise).

Britannia Leisure Runners *

Meeting Point: Entrance of Britannia Leisure Centre, 40 Hyde Road, N1 5JU.

This is a new group held every Tuesday at 17:30pm. This group benefits from a 30 minute strength and conditioning session before a led running session. For more information please contact Kevin King on 07850912765.

Clissold Runners *

Meeting point: Outside Clissold Leisure Centre, Clissold Leisure Centre, 63 Clissold Road, N16 9EX

Hackney Downs Runners *

Meeting Point: Hackney downs community building, Hackney Downs Park, Downs Park Road, E5 8NP

There are two sessions a week: 

  • Tuesday sessions launch on 6th March 2012 at 09:30am
  • Saturday session launch on the 10th March 2012 at 09:30am

Hackney Marshes Ladies Running Group (unconfirmed Royal Caribbean Group)                                                                

Meeting Point: Enderfield Pub, 57 Elderfield Road, Homerton, London, E5 0LF

Hackney Marshes Park Run

Meeting Point: Hackney Marshes Centre, Homerton Road, E9 5PF

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and we encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; we welcome you all.

This is a weekly event held every Saturday morning, the run starts at 09:00am so it is advised you get there for 08:45. Your 5k run will be timed and you can monitor your progress as the weeks go by. For more information please contact Hackney Parkrun at hackneyparkrun@gmail.com

Haggerston Runners *

Meeting Point: Seabright Primary School gates, Audrey Street, London, E2 8QH

This is a new group launching on Thursday 1st March 2012 and will run every Thursday morning thereafter at 09:15am. For more information please contact Kevin King on 07850912765.

Homerton Runners *

Meeting Point: Outside Hackney Town Hall, Mare Street, London, E8 1EA

This is a new lunch time group which launches on Monday 5th March and meets every Monday thereafter at 12:55pm. For more information please contact Carol at hackneytrainer@gmail.com.

London Field Junior Runners *

Meeting point: London Fields Lido, London Fields Westside, E8 3EU

This group launches on Sunday 29th January 2012 and will run every Sunday thereafter at 09:15am. It will focus on junior runners, but all runners are welcome. For more information please contact Karl Grainger or Amanda Wilmer by emailing lftriathlon@googlemail.com.

Mabley Green Runners *

Meeting point: Outside the changing rooms at Mabley Green, Lee Conservancy Road, E9 5RN

This group launches on Tuesday 7th February 2012 and will be held every Tuesday thereafter at 18:00pm. For more information please contact Nugent Richards on 07753934870.

Marsh Runners *

Meeting point: The front of the Hackney Marshes Centre, Homerton Road, E9 5PF.

Run Dem Crew

Meeting Point: NIKE 1948, Arches 477-478,  Batemans Row, London, EC2A 3HH                                            

This event is every Tuesday, doors open at 6.30pm and the run commences at 7.30pm. One hundred strong and growing daily, the RDC is a collective of creative heads with a passion for running and the exchange of ideas.They meet every Tuesday to run and explore the streets of London. Be you a marathon veteran or taking your first steps towards your first race, the Run Dem Crew caters for runners of all abilities with runs split into five groups according to fitness and pace. Springfield Running Group

Meeting point: Springfield Park, Outside Springfield Mansions, Springfield, Upper Clapton, London, E5 9EF

This group has four sessions including:

  • Sunday: Session 1, 07:30am - 08:30am
  • Sunday: Session 2, 09:00am - 10:00am 
  • Wednesday: 09:30am - 10:30am
  • Thursday Session: TBC

Useful information

  • Groups are usually made up of between five and sixteen people and our leaders are carefully selected and fully trained to help you get the most of the sessions.
  • Everyone is welcome: slow joggers and fast runners - you get the idea!
  • All routes have been designed to be accessible to everyone - joggers and runners of all abilities.
  • No specialist equipment is required. A pair of trainers or flat tie-up shoes with rubber grip are recommended.
  • You are advised to bring water and dress appropriately to the weather conditions.

Become a part of Run England

Joining Run England is a great first step if you want to get into running. Membership is free and you'll get support, advice and encouragement to help you get the most from your running.

And if you have already got a few miles under your belt, you will be able to find plenty of people just like you in the Run England community.

Whatever your age, fitness level, aspiration, background, or location you can benefit from being a part of England's running community. Run England are there to help and encourage more people to run, and to run more often...and to have fun along the way!
