STAR Accreditation
The School Travel Accreditation Scheme awards schools for the work they put into implementing their School Travel Plans and celebrates good practice. There are three levels which schools can apply for:
- Sustainable Level
- Higher Standards
- Outstanding
Each level requires a greater level of participation in sustainable travel initiatives and whole school involvement.

There are many benefits of becoming accredited including:
- An accreditation plaque and certificate for your school
- Use of the accreditation logo for your school letterhead
- Invitation to Transport for London's accreditation awards event
- Priority for funding from Hackney Council
- Priority for resources from Hackney Council
- Recognition for the achievements of your School Travel Plan

STAR Accreditation 2011 - fantastic results
This year 26 Hackney schools achieved either Sustainable, Higher or Outstanding status for TfL's Sustainable Travel Accredited and Recognised scheme based on their 2011 STP.
Congratulations to the following schools who have achieved Accreditation status for their School Travel Plans.
Outstanding (Gold):
Tawhid Boy's School, Tyssen Community Primary School and Shacklewell Primary School.
Higher (Silver):
Brook Community Primary School, Jubilee Primary School, Kingsmead Primary School, Lauriston School, Southwold Primary School, St John the Baptist Primary School and The Petchey Academy.
Sustainable (Bronze):
Daubeney Primary School, Gainsborough Primary School, Grasmere Primary School, Grazebrook Primary School, Lubavitch House Junior Boys School, Our Lady & St Joseph RC Primary School, Queensbridge Primary School, Randal Cremer Primary School, Sebright School, St Mary's C of E Primary School, St Matthias C of E Primary School, St Monica's RC Primary School, Thomas Fairchild Community School, Wentworth Nursery School, Whitmore Primary School and Yesodey Hatorah Senior Girls School.
Being part of S.T.A.R highlights the great initatives schools are doing to promote sustainable travel within their school community. Walking, cycling, public transport and road safety initiatives through the STP help many schools to confidently meet the criteria for the S.T.A.R scheme.
