Theatre in Education
Schools with an ‘active’ School Travel Plan (STP) may be able to receive free Theatre in Education performances related to sustainable transport at their school.
The theatre companies we choose give engaging performances which promote sustainable, environmental, health and safety messages to any age group and help to raise awareness amongst pupils about various issues in sustainable transport and road safety.
The performances contribute to encouraging the use of sustainable modes of transport and assist meeting traffic reduction, environmental improvement, air quality improvement, child health targets and addressing safety issues, as well as educating children through the use of theatre.
In February ten schools received a theatre performance by The Big Wheel Theatre Company called ‘Go! Go! Go!’.
Peter Sanders, Deputy Headteacher and School Travel Plan Champion from Lauriston Primary School said “Our children absolutely loved ‘Go! Go! Go!’. The actors Virginie and Lucie completely captivated the children and held their attention throughout the 70 minutes”
