For the first time this summer, the five host boroughs for 2012 held the new CREATE festival.

CREATE08 brought together a collection of exciting, inspiring and very different things to do, see and take part across the host boroughs for the London’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The host boroughs for 2012 are where the cultural heart of London beats loudest and are home to an impressive range of major festivals - from free outdoor spectaculars to large-scale music events, carnivals and community street parties. They are where you will find a unique collection of world-class art galleries, theatres and museums; all of which are busy and full of nice surprises year round.

CREATE08 formed an important part of London taking up the Olympic and Paralympic flag from Beijing in the summer of 2008.

The CREATE festival will be an annual event, building year-on-year to 2012 and beyond; becoming an essential part of the cultural legacy from the 2012 Games and Cultural Olympiad.

CREATE includes a new annual art prize which will be awarded for the first time in October 2008.
