Abandoned vehicles

We aim to remove vehicles that are abandoned in Hackney as soon as is legally possible. There are different procedures for removal based on the vehicle's condition and location.

We will investigate complaints within 48 hours of them being reported to us. The following will usually indicate that a vehicle has been abandoned:

  • Not moved for a long period of time
  • Rusty brake discs
  • Flat tyres/broken windows
  • Being burnt out
  • General condition of deterioration

How you can help

Please report any vehicle to us that you suspect has been abandoned using the contact details below for vehicles on the public highway.  For vehicles abandoned on an estate you need to report them to the local neighbourhood office.

Please provide as must information as possible i.e. the vehicle’s exact location, the make and model and registration number.

You can also help us by reporting untaxed vehicles.
