Bulky waste
Hackney Council offers a free removal service for bulky waste like fridges, cookers and furniture.
The Council will remove up to five items per collection and will make up to four collections per household each year.
Arranging a collection
Call the Hackney Wasteline 020 8356 6688 to arrange a bulky waste collection. Make sure you tell the operator you have items suitable for reuse when you book your collection.
You can also use the online form for waste collections, but please call if you think you may have an item suitable for re-use, and our call centre staff will discuss the matter with you.
Your items should be picked up within 24 hours if booked by 2pm, within 48 hours after 2pm or by appointment if you prefer. Please note, there are no weekend collections for general bulky waste however there is a Saturday morning collection fo reuse.
Large quantities of waste
If you have larger quantities of waste to dispose of, you must arrange for this to be collected by a private contractor or call Hackney Commercial Waste Service, 020 8533 7583.
