What issues does the Enforcement Team deal with?

The London Borough of Hackney Enforcement Team will respond directly to issues relating to the following topics:

  • Illegal Street Trading
  • Illegal Vehicle Repairs
  • Illegal Vehicle Sales
  • Shop Front Trading
  • Car Boot Sales
  • Obstructions
  • Pigeon Waste
  • Fly Tipping
  • Fly Posting

How do I raise a complaint or report an issue of concern?

If you wish to report an incident or raise a complaint regarding any of the above, please contact the Hackney Service Centre on 020 8356 4810, or email us at info@hackney.gov.uk and have the following information to hand to enable us to quickly deal with your enquiry:

  • Your name and contact information
  • The location of the problem
  • How often it is happening and is it happening now
  • Where the incident is occurring? Is it on a public highway, a housing estate or private land?

Depending on the type of incident or complaint you wish to make or report, additional information will be requested from you. Please refer to the sections below for more details:

Illegal Vehicle Repairs

  • How many people are involved
  • Can they give any descriptions of vehicles involved (used or repaired)
  • Is it a regular occurrence

Vehicles for Sale

  • Type(s) of vehicles involved
  • Any registration mark / similar information about each vehicle
  • Numbers involved
  • Who is involved
  • Details of the vehicles used by the people selling

Car Boot Sales

  • The exact location of the sale
  • The approximate number of cars / other vehicles involved
  • The approximate number of people attending

Fly Posting

  • The venue where the advertised show/concert etc is to take place
  • What type of event is it
  • What the name of organiser and / or band is
  • How many posters are in the area

Shop Front Trading

  • Type of obstruction
  • How long has it been there
  • Who might be responsible

Fly Tipping

  • What is the nature of items which have been tipped
  • Where the tip has been done
  • Did you see who did it
  • Did you note any vehicle details such as registration mark
  • Did you see who was carrying out the illegal tip

Obstructions

  • How long has the obstruction been there
  • What exactly is the obstruction

Pigeon Waste

  • Which bridge and the bridge identification number
  • Where is it

Please call our Service Centre on 020 8356 4810 and give details of who you are, when you raised the complaint and what it was about and we will give you an update on what we have done.

When does the service operate?

All requests for help or complaints must be raised with the Hackney Service Centre by telephone on 020 8356 4810 or by email to info@hackney.gov.uk

The Hackney Service Centre currently operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. There are no specific out of hours service however, Enforcement Officers are called out by other service areas in response to certain types of incidents and complaints if required.
