The Viewing and Offer Process

What happens if I make a bid and cannot go to view the property?

You will not be penalised if you cannot go to view the property.  However, please tell your neighbourhood office or Housing Association office (contact details will be on the letter sent to you) so that someone else has the chance to view it instead.

If you repeatedly bid and don’t view the property, we may contact you to find out why. Please let us know if you need support or help to get to the viewing.

What happens if I make a bid, view it but then refuse the property?

There is no penalty if you choose not to accept a property. The property will be offered to the next highest eligible bidder. Your case remains active and you may continue bidding for properties until you find a suitable home.

What happens if I don’t make any bids?

If you don’t bid you won’t be re housed.

If you don’t bid because you don’t understand the system or don’t have access to it, contact 020 8356 2135 for help. Advisors are available to help you with Hackney Choice during each bidding cycle on Friday and Monday at Housing Reception Christopher Addison, 72 Wilton Way, E8.
