How will people be able to travel to the Games in 2012?
The Games in 2012 are being billed as the “public transport Games”. Excellent public transport links will be provided to the Games including London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Rail, National Rail services and local bus services.
Each ticket sold will include free travel in London to the event on the day it takes place to encourage the use of public transport.
Walking and cycling is also being encouraged and three of the main spectator walking and cycling routes lie within Hackney.
Direct coach, park and ride (bus based), and river transport will also be available.
Private vehicles will be discouraged and facilities will not be provided for parking (except for disabled access).
What trains will be going to the Games?
- London Underground – Jubilee and Central
- London Overground – North London Line
- Javelin Service (St Pancras to Stratford)
- Docklands Light Rail
- National Rail services to Stratford Regional Station
Where are the entry points to the Games Park? What will be the best way into the Games from Hackney?
There will be three major access points:
- North (East Marshes)
- South (connected to Victoria Park and Greenway)
- East (Stratford)
From Hackney, the best way to access will be via Victoria Park or East Marsh. Excellent walking and cycling links and facilities will be provided to ensure that these entrances will be easily accessible.
The London Overground takes passengers to Stratford for the Main Stadium and Aquatics Centre.
