The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) estimates that 70,000 volunteers will be needed for to run the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Personal Best programme
In Hackney the 2012 Personal Best programme is already helping residents to prepare for the 2012 Games.
Personal Best helps local people to learn news skills whilst volunteering, and leads to a nationally recognised qualification. To date over 130 Hackney residents have completed the Personal Best course.
