Vote for Shoreditch Park

Residents are being urged to vote for Shoreditch Park to be one of ten open spaces transformed by a £6million cash boost.

Londoners have the chance to vote for one of 47 parks selected as candidates for the money.

Ten £400,000 grants to make our green spaces safer and more enjoyable are up for grabs. A single grant of up to £2million for one large park is also up for grabs. The winner will be decided by the Mayor of London, – who is funding the scheme, dubbed Help A London Park – with the advice of a panel of experts.

Cllr Nargis Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:

“If successful, this funding will help us continue to deliver many of the improvements identified by the local community as part of our major investment in and redevelopment of Hackney’s parks.

“I urge everyone who lives, works or visits in the borough to get involved and vote for Shoreditch.”

The park is already being transformed thanks to a major redevelopment project led by the Council, with support from the Shoreditch Trust.

A master plan, developed through extensive consultation with residents, and working with architects and a Met Police crime prevention design advisor, has been approved with some measures already completed or in progress.

The grant would fund the building of a healthy eating café, a permanent volley ball court and extended ranger facilities as part of an ongoing project to make the park safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.
