Dropped Kerbs and Crossovers

I was visiting my brother’s house and I have been issued with a parking ticket whilst I was parked outside his drive

Please call the Corporate Contact Centre with ticket number or car registration number. Parking on a dropped kerb is illegal, as this part of the pavement is still regarded as a public footway. Parking will only be permitted if there are correct markings and signage to indicate so.

Can I have a dropped kerb?
I am disabled, can I have a dropped kerb?

You will need to contact our Highways Department to request a dropped kerb on 020 8356 2897. Planning permission is not usually required for such work, but will be needed if:

  • The property involved has the frontage directly onto a classified road.
  • The property involved is a listed building.
  • The property involved is other than a house for a single family eg flat, maisonette, commercial or industrial premises.

If you are disabled and would like a dropped kerb you need to contact your Social Services Department who will then follow the correct procedure.

Somebody has parked their car and blocked my way

Please contact the Corporate Contact Centre on 020 8356 8877, a member of staff will ask you for the location. You will be required to give your name and address and this must relate to the location to which the offending vehicle is blocking. You need to have the car registration details of the car that is blocking the route at time of the call. Your call will be logged, and then all details will be forwarded to the Enforcement Team.

My dropped kerb outside my house has been damaged

Please call the Corporate Contact Centre 020 8356 8877 where your call can be logged and then directed to the Highways Department who will deal with the enquiry.

The double yellow lines on my road have faded

Double yellow lines are dealt by either Parking Operation or Highways. Parking Operations will deal with yellow lines in a parking control zone and Highways for enquiries relating to other roads. Please contact the Corporate Contact Centre so we can refer your enquiry to the correct department.
