Frequently Asked Questions

Parking Fines

I have been issued with a car parking fine, how should I pay my fine?

There are three ways to pay a parking fine:

  1. By Telephone: 020 8356 5050
(Credit/Debit Cards – American Express will not be accepted)
  2. By Letter: London Borough of Hackney
    PO Box 39054
    London
    E8 1WS
    (Cheque or Postal Orders)
  3. In Person: The Parking Shop
    275 Mare Street
    Hackney
    E8 1GR

Opening hours: Mon to Fri 9am – 5pm.

When making a payment please provide your penalty charge notice number (which begins with an HK), or your vehicle registration number. If you have more than one fine, please state which you wish to make a payment for.

I have been issued a parking fine, which I want to appeal

Please write to Parking Services at the address below as soon as you can, include all the information and enclose any evidence you feel may be relevant to your case.

I want to pay for my ticket now but I want to appeal for it as well

In accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1991, you may either pay or appeal. If you make a payment, it closes the case. If you wish to appeal, do so and we will put your fine on hold at the rate at which you wrote to us, until we have written back to you.

However you can pay and appeal for clamps.

I have lost my car parking fine ticket?

If you have lost the ticket, you can still go ahead and pay using your vehicles registration number.

I have received a Notice to Owner, but I never received the original ticket

The ticket could have been removed from your vehicle by someone other than yourself, if this is established this would not make the ticket invalid, as the PCN would have been issued correctly.

However you may write to Parking Services at the address below explaining your situation.

I have received a car parking ticket for a car that I don’t own anymore

omplete the relevant section on the back of Notice to Owner form including evidence of how and when the car was disposed off and send it to Parking Services at the address below.

I have been contacted by the County Court or bailiffs, can I now, pay or appeal?

You must correspond with the body who wrote to you as the Parking Services have registered the debt (with the County Court) or assigned it to the bailiffs (via the County Court). Please make sure that you contact either the County Court or bailiffs as soon as possible, as further delays may cost you more money.

I want to pay for my parking fine but I am broke at the moment

We do not take part payment or instalments and failure to pay the full amount by the deadline given could lead to an escalation in the fine.
