Petroleum Filling Stations

I can see petroleum leaking from a pump in a petrol station, what do I do?

If the premises are open please tell the manager or another person who is responsible for the station. If the premises are closed and you believe it is a minor leak please contact the Hackney Service Centre between the hours of 8am– 6pm on 020 8356 4929 who will contact the appropriate people. If the premises are closed and you believe the leak will cause imminent risk to life, please ring the Police on 999 and give them all the details.

I believe I have been sold short measure petrol.
I believe that there was water in the fuel I purchased.
The wrong fuel came out of the pump (e.g. I was filling up at a petrol pump when diesel came out of it).

Please contact Consumer Direct who will advise you how to seek redress and where appropriate they will refer your complaint to the Trading Standards Service for the area where you purchased the petrol. You may be contacted for further information so that they can take whatever action appropriate.

Consumer Direct can be contacted on 020 8356 4929 (select option one) or telephone them directly on 08454 04 05 06.
