Welcome to Hackney volunteers
The BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 and Hackney's street celebrations to welcome the Olympic flame are just two major events taking place in the summer of 2012 which will need plenty of volunteers. Hackney Council aims to recruit 300 Welcome to Hackney volunteers who will welcome visitors to the borough and help the Games time events run smoothly.
Event and Ambassador Volunteers
There are two types of volunteer role available - Event Volunteers, who are assigned to specific events to help with hosting and stewarding, and Ambassador Volunteers who will work at key locations across the borough providing information and assistance to visitors at Games time. To find out more about the roles, see Event Volunteer role description (Word, 1.8MB) and Ambassador Volunteer role description (Word, 1.8MB).

Volunteers will be asked to commit to at least five days of duty during the Games period (June-September 2012). To be eligible for the programme you must live, work or study in Hackney and must be aged over 18 by 23 May 2012 for Event Volunteers, and over 16 by 23 May 2012 for Ambassador Volunteers.
