Are there places in Hackney where residents can train for 2012 jobs?

Yes.  Hackney Council is working with a range of local partners to make sure residents have access to job opportunities.  Hackney Community College and Training for Life are just two of these.

Hackney Community College offers training in areas including construction, sport, health and fitness, leisure and tourism, and information technology.

Training for Life offers work based training leading to vocational qualifications in the hospitality industry.

Hackney is promoting work in media and IT to make the most of the opportunity from the media centres for 2012 being in Hackney Wick.

The Council and partners are working to make sure residents have the opportunity to learn media and information technology skills for jobs at Games-time and afterwards.

Skillset are one of the organisations helping to shape this training.  Skillset has a commitment to providing 1,200 trained workers through a new 2012 broadcast training programme.

Skillset can be contacted on 020 7713 9820 or via email at glennb@skillset.org
