Hackney Marshes

Improving Hackney Marshes

Hackney Marshes – the world famous home of grass roots football – is set to benefit from more than £3m of investment to improve facilities including the football pitches and new changing rooms.

The money we have will bring real improvements. But with additional funding more can be achieved. We have the opportunity to apply for that additional investment.

To do that the Council asked residents and people who use the Marshes for ideas to shape the plans that can bring about that investment.

The ideas received have been evaluated and form part of the plans to improve the Marshes. Details of those plans are available from the Council’s 2012 Unit.

Hackney Council and the London Development Agency are working together to deliver the improvements to the Marshes. This is the result of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and the Council investing in Hackney’s sports facilities.
