World Book Day: Thursday 6 March
There will be two events in Hackney to celebrate World Book Day this year -
Hackney Big Read
10:45 (till midday) Hackney Town Hall Assembly Rooms -
- Hackney’s Poet Laureate
- Fun Storytelling
- Poetry Readings
The aim of the Hackney Big Read is to have a day of celebrations across Hackney; to unite the community through reading a poem simultaneously and to reflect the 100 different languages spoken in the borough.
What’s involved?
World Book Day will see the launch of a collection of short stories and poems in various languages to reflect Hackney’s diversity. The booklet will be distributed to community groups, schools and the wider community.
