Building Schools for the Future (BSF) -

£167 million bid gets Government go-ahead

Climbers in Hackney

Hackney is aiming higher than ever with its BSF programme after the outline business case (OBC) received approval from Partnerships for Schools, the government agency responsible for the national Building Schools for the Future programme, this week.

The backing for the OBC, which comes with no conditions, means that Hackney’s BSF programme has now taken a major step forward, securing the £167 million worth of investment in Hackney schools.

Hackney’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, Rita Krishna, said: “I want every child in Hackney to get a 21st century education, and for more children to stay in the borough for that education – and BSF will help us achieve that. So I’m delighted our BSF programme has a ringing endorsement from Government.”

Hackney is one of 10 local authorities in wave two of the BSF programme.
