Jules Pipe: 'Proud to host the 2012 games
The London 2012 Forum was held in the borough last Thursday, bringing together people from across the capital with interests in the Games.
Mayor Pipe opened the Forum saying he was proud to be a host borough for 2012 and welcomed Sebastian Coe, chair of the committee which will organise the London Games.
Lord Coe’s speech focused on the immense scale of the Games and the importance of engaging communities in all aspects.
Unveiling a new Olympic logo for the borough, Mayor Pipe said: “For Hackney the Olympics is not just about the Games themselves, it is about the whole journey towards, work for local people, a vibrant borough where culture and the arts thrive, a cleaner safer greener environment and a place that is good to grow up in.
“The new Raising Our Game brand reflects this.”
