Notice of Election
Election of a Mayor and Borough Councillors
1. An election will be held on Thursday 4 May 2006 for a Mayor for the London Borough of Hackney, and for Three Councillors to serve in each of the following Wards of the London Borough of Hackney:
New River | Springfield | Brownswood | Lordship | Cazenove | Clissold | Stoke Newington Central | Hackney Downs | Leabridge | Dalston | Hackney Central | Chatham | Kings Park | De Beauvoir | Queensbridge | Wick | Victoria | Hoxton | Haggerston
2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the Elections Office, Room 60, Hackney Town Hall, Mare Street, London E8 1EA on any day (except Saturdays, Sundays or any Bank or Public Holiday) between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm, after the date of this notice, but not later than 12.00 noon on Monday 3 April 2006.
3. Sets of nomination papers are available from the Returning Officer at the address given above, who may, at the request of any elector, prepare a Nomination paper for signature.
4. If contested, the Polling Stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm on Thursday 4 May 2006.
5. Electors and their proxies should note that to be effective at these elections:
- New applications to vote by post, or changes or cancellations to existing postal voting arrangements must reach the Registration Officer at Room 60, Hackney Town Hall, not later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 18 April 2006
- New applications to appoint a person to vote as proxy must reach the Registration Officer at Room 60, Hackney Town Hall not later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 25 April 2006
- Applications to appoint a proxy as a result of a physical incapacity that occurred after 5.00pm on 25 April 2006, and suitably witnessed, can be made at any time before 5.00pm on polling day, Thursday 4 May 2006.
