International Women's Month

Hackney Council hosts International Women's Month Event

Hackney Council hosts Celebrating Women, an International Women’s Month event examining domestic violence, on Friday 24 March.

Research shows that around one in four women will experience domestic violence. Following consultation Hackney Council has drafted a policy setting out how it will tackle domestic violence in partnership with local agencies. The draft will be one of the items for discussion at Celebrating Women.

The free public event will also feature keynote addresses from Gita Sahgal, Amnesty International’s Head of Gender, and Penny Thompson, Chief Executive of Hackney Council.

International Women's Month, held every March in Britain, celebrates the economic, social, cultural and political achievements of women.
