The new A to Z of Services booklet
A directory containing the contact details for services provided by Hackney Council and other organisations such as the police, has been posted to all residents across the borough.
Printed in a colourful and handy sized booklet format, the A to Z of Services 2006/07 gives residents and businesses information about the full range of services, along with contact phone numbers as well as email and web site addresses.
So if you want to find out about more on adult education, know what items you can recycle or to reserve a library book, reach for the A to Z; or perhaps its a number for a local school, the meals on wheels service, activities for young people or details on the Neighbourhood Committee - it’s all in the A to Z.
There are now policing teams for every ward in the borough, dedicated to patrolling the streets. A key benefit of the teams is being able to contact them about local issues. The details of these ‘bobbies on the beat’ are also listed in the directory.
Hackney Council’s Mayor, Jules Pipe welcoming the A to Z, said: “This is a big step towards making Hackney’s services more accessible to residents. The A toZ tells people what we do and how they can get in touch with us. “I hope that residents will find the directory useful. We intend to publish it on an annual basis so if residents have ideas of how it can be improved, they should contact us and let us know.”
A summary version of the printed A to Z is in issue 141 of Hackney Today and will be included in future editions.
