Equalities Framework for Local Government
Overview of the framework
Overseen by the Local Government Improvement and Development, the Equalities Framework for Local Government was developed to anticipate both the Public Sector and Socio Economic Duties of the Equality Act and comprises five performance areas which feature and which have relevance across the board:
- Knowing your communities and equality mapping
- Place shaping, leadership, partnership and organisational commitment
- Community engagement and satisfaction
- Responsive services and customer care
- A modern and diverse workforce
The framework has three levels of performance.
- Level 1: developing
- Level 2: achieving
- Level 3: excellent
Hackney Council became an achieving authority in May 2008. The Council is on a journey of continuous improvement and is committed to reaching level 3 excellent.
