De Beauvoir

In De Beauvoir, we’re making the most of underused council land. We plan to build almost 300 much needed new homes in the coming years. They will be across De Beauvoir Estate and Blandford Court garages at Lockner Estate.

De Beauvoir Estate

Since 2018, we’ve been working with residents to develop plans to build new homes on the De Beauvoir Estate, giving priority to new council homes for current residents. Our planning sub-committee granted planning permission in July 2022 for the first phase. This includes around 189 new homes. Since then we’ve been working on options to build these homes and progress a second phase of new homes.

It’s not just about housing, we’ll also:

  • improve some existing homes
  • provide better public spaces
  • build a new neighbourhood housing office and affordable workspace

Blandford Court garages at Lockner Estate

In summer 2022, we talked with local residents about a proposal to replace garages on the estate with new council homes. Since then, our cabinet has given us the go-ahead to work with a design team and residents to develop plans for these new homes on the estate.

This is one of 15 locations across Hackney that will make up a new programme to build around 400 new homes. 75% of the new homes will be council homes for social rent.
